Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia.

Yolande was the beloved wife of the late John Gysbers. She was the cherished sister of the late Rudy Brunet, Lorraine Omran and Jacqueline Huguette Brunet. She was a devoted and loving mother to Roxanne Smith (Mike), Daryl Yatkowski (Dominique), Natalie Iacovetta (Eugene), Cynthia Yatkowski (Shawn), and Gregory Yatkowski. She was also a cherished stepmother to Peter Gysbers, Hilda Gysbers, Janet Gysbers, the late Diane MacIver, and Paul Gysbers (Sheila).

She was the proud and deeply loved grandmother of 23 grandchildren and great-grandmother of 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.

Yolande will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, unwavering strength, and wonderful sense of humour. She had a gift for making people laugh, lightening even the most difficult moments with her quick wit and pranks, beautiful smile, and warm personality. She made everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved, and her home and heart were always open to family and friends, with a table full of food and a pot filled with tea.

Family was the center of Yolande’s world, and she valued any moment spent with them. She leaves behind a life filled with love, laughter, and togetherness that will continue to live on through memories and the many lives she shaped. She was deeply admired, respected, and loved not only by her family but also by the many friends and neighbours who were fortunate enough to know her. Her kindness, generosity, and ability to bring people together left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered not only for what she did, but for how she made people feel accepted, cared for, and loved.

Yolande’s faith was the foundation of her life. She was devoted to her church, loved Jesus with all her heart, and lived her faith through her compassion, generosity, and unwavering love for others. She found strength and peace in her relationship with the Lord and was a faithful example of Christian love to everyone around her.

Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in the countless memories she gave us and in the assurance that she is now in heaven, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her and resting peacefully in the presence of her Saviour. Yolande’s legacy is one of kindness, compassion, humour, unwavering faith, and a life beautifully lived. Her love, laughter, and spirit will remain with us always.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Couchiching Park, 140 Canice Street, Orillia, (at the tree near the boat launch) from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. Please bring your own lunch and join us for a relaxed afternoon together. Everyone is welcome as we honour Yolande’s memory and celebrate a life well lived.
