Poidevin, William (Bill) Dominic.
On December 27th, 2023 in his 75th year at RVH in Barrie, we lost a great man.
It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of the cherished father of Kym (Jimi), Jason (Agnes), Sandra Dawn, Damian (Jennifer) and Jo-anne (Bryan) and honorary daughter Laura. He is fondly remembered by Darlene, his wife of 30 years. Although they parted ways they remained very close. He was the treasured grandfather of Wynter Angel (predeceased), Kody (Makayla), Nikolas, Alyssa (Forrest), Kalina, Shayla, Hunter, Matthew, Willow, Mayah and his two bonus grandchildren, Logan and Grace. He was lovingly adored by his two great grandchildren, Lukas Glenn William and Ozzy Wynter. Devoted brother of Betty, Dave (Betty) and Bea (predeceased). He was the loving son of Eileen (Pace) Poidevin and devoted stepson of Phil Gilson, both predeceased. He will be dearly missed by his many remaining family and friends.
Bill was a long time employee of Eaton's and a proud volunteer for the following organizations, the OPP in the VICARS program(victims assistance), the Tottenham Bluegrass Festival, as a member on a tenant committee, a yard supervisor at Monsignor Lee school, the Resident's Council at his nursing home as well as the one to welcome any new residents and show them around. Bill's insane passion for all genres of music is something he passed on to many of us. He not only listened to music but played many instruments in the past. His sense of humour is one of the fondest memories that will remain with us. It was as legendary as it was outlandish. He loved nothing more than to get a laugh out of people. You'd be pressed to find a man as kind. He cared for others more than he cared about himself. He was a friend to all and supporter of underdogs everywhere. He liked to lend an ear to those who needed it and he truly listened. Bill managed to make every person he met feel like they were the most important person in the world. We will all miss him immensely in our world and hope he's peacefully happy and, most importantly, healthy wherever he may be now.
