Wayne Robertson

After a short, but very courageous battle at Southlake Hospital our beloved Wayne Robertson was called home by God on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. Wayne passed away peacefully in his sleep.

Wayne, lovingly known as Papa Wayne, was a loving and devoted father to his daughter Joanna (John) and grandfather to his three grandchildren, his pride and joy, Mya, Ben and George (captain C).

Wayne was the beloved son of the late William and Annabel Robertson, brother to Carol (Bill) Lannin (both predeceased), Connie (predeceased) (Lawrence) Fannon, Ken Robertson, JoAnne (Jim) Gover, Jill Robertson and Mark (predeceased) (Lorrie) Robertson. Wayne will sadly be missed by his nieces, nephews, friends, coworkers, and around the arenas.

Depending on how you knew Wayne, he was bwana to some, especially in high school, college, his baseball boys and his moose lodge friends. He was uncle Wayne to his nieces, nephews and their friends, but Wayne will forever be remembered as Papa Wayne to all.

Wayne is leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love for his family and community. He was a pillar of support and a source of wisdom to all who knew him. His stories, sometimes over the top and annoying, showed his love for his family, especially his grandchildren. His generous heart touched many lives, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate to share in his journey. Papa Wayne’s enduring spirit and the lessons he imparted will forever remain in the hearts of his loved ones. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.

Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Thursday, October 2nd from 5 - 7 p.m. and on Friday, October 3rd from 12 noon until time of service in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment to follow in Wayne's family plot at Udney Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Hospital for Sick Children OR in honour of Wayne’s passion for supporting his grandchildren’s love of sports, contributions (cash or personal cheque) can be given directly to Joanna Robertson.
