It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the passing of Terrence (Terry) Thomas Wiles from the loving arms of his wife Theresa Wiles (nee Coulter) into God’s care on 30 August 2025 at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital in Orillia Ontario.
Born in Port Sydney on 8 November 1938, Terry was the beloved son of the late Esther Wiles (nee Meyer) and Issac Wiles of Kitchener. He leaves behind his cherished children, Corinne, Chris, Jeff, and Virginia, and was a proud father-in-law to Michel Therrien, the late Shelley Jones, and Angela Kerr. Terry was adored as a grandfather by Zacharie, Tianna, Alexandrina (Dali), Matthew, Veronique, Paisley, and Ben, and as a great-grandfather to Ellissa and Elies. He is predeceased by his siblings: Norma, Ray, Jim, John, and Sid and fondly remembered by Virginia, Pat, Barb, Doug, and Lori.
Terry lived by the motto: “If a job is worth doing, it’s worth doing right.” His formative years were spent farming in southern Ontario where he worked alongside his family caring for the farm and each other. These experiences instilled in him the enduring values of hard work, perseverance, and self-reliance. After working with his father in the construction industry, followed by a brief stint at Schneider’s, he followed his brothers into the trucking industry as an owner/operator. He later joined Wiles Transport / JC Rock, where he worked until his retirement at 55.
Terry treasured his home on Lake Simcoe, where he raised his family and welcomed friends and relatives. His annual corn roast, hosted since 1970, became a signature event that brought loved ones together. Terry found joy in gardening, boating, waterskiing, and his trusty sea-doo. He was an avid traveller, with memorable journeys to the United States, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Las Vegas.
A funeral mass will be held for Terry on Friday, September 5 at 10:00 at Guardian Angels, with a receiving line beginning at 09:30. Following the service, his ashes will be placed in the St. Michael’s Columbarium. All are invited to join the family for a reception at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, after the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s memory may be made to the Soldiers Memorial Hospital – New Building Fund.
