It is with profound sadness that his family announces that Steve, after a courageous battle to recover from a massive stroke,  passed away at Soldiers Memorial Hospital on December 9th, 2021 at the age of 59.

Loving spouse of Martha Stong and awesome dad to Alyx (Andy) and Nick. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip Mecalick and Betty Mecalick (nee Wright).
He leaves behind his sisters, Angela Fountain (Barry), Michelle Hay (Iain) and lots of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

Steve retired from a career in IT and loved music, a good party and lots of laughter.  He especially loved time fishing and breathing in nature at his family cottage.  He was always enthusiastic about the next project, tinkering in his garage, and the first to lend a helping hand.  His insight, wit, and passion for life will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
