Bogardis, Shirley Elizabeth (née O’Neill) January 17, 1953 to January 3, 2026
Shirley Elizabeth Bogardis (née O’Neill) passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, after a courageous journey with Alzheimer’s disease.
Shirley was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Bogardis. Being a wife, mother, and nana was the centre of her world. She wanted nothing more than to love and care for her children and grandchildren, and she did so with her whole heart. She was the devoted mother of Sara Ray (Bogardis), wife of Adam Ray and mother of Gordon Ray; Lyndsey Bogardis, mother of Amelia Bsharat; and Bradley Bogardis, husband of Erin Bogardis and father of Clara Bogardis and Briar Bogardis.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Parnell and Helen O’Neill. She is survived by her siblings Darlene (John), Rosanne, Bob (Heather), Donna (Alan), Eileen (Kirk), and Patrick (Michelle). She was also a loving sister-in-law to Jim (Susan), Bob (Susan, late), and Joanne (Bob, late), and a cherished aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews.
One of seven children, Shirley’s family meant everything to her. She treasured family gatherings, loved hockey, baseball, and all sports, never turned down a game of euchre, and carried a generous spirit that was always drawn to helping others. She will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and deep devotion to those she loved.
A funeral service will be held on January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke’s Church, Downeyville, Ontario. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley’s memory to the Alzheimer Society or Mariposa House Hospice and may be made through the Mundell Funeral Home.
