It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Rosina Carpino, peacefully at Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital in her 98th year.
Rosina was born in Paterno Calabro, Cosenza Italy on January 8, 1928. She was the beloved wife of the late Michele Carpino and devoted mother to Francesco-d of Orillia, Sara of Orillia, Palmo Giuseppe (Valerie) of Edmonton and Giovanni (Lisa) of Moonstone. Proud Nonna to grandchildren Melissa, Michael, Antonio, Matteo, Justin, Zachary, Allysha and Steven.
Rosina was a loving, nurturing, thoughtful sister who was the last surviving sibling to Maria Carpino (Giuseppe), Angelina Spina (Eugenio), Bernardo Carpino (Assunta), Giovanni Carpino (Genoeffa), and Nella Carpino (Tony Apa).
Rosina is the beloved sister-in-law to Philomena-d (Santo-d) Soda; Maria (Giovanni-d) Borrelli; Carmine (Avril) Carpino; Rita-d (Giovanni-d) Reda.
Rosina will be missed by many relatives and friends at many homes and tables far and wide
Rosina will be remembered as a caring, welcoming, and generous lady to anyone she met. She was an avid gardener, talented seamstress but her proudest achievements always revolved around food and entertaining. Michele and Rosina owned and operated their own bakery, providing fresh breads and baked goods to Orillia and surrounding areas for many years. She later joined the staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department and later transitioned to her love of cooking for the staff and visitors at the hospital. But most of all her greatest passion was her family. She found great joy in sharing her recipes, wisdom and traditions in the kitchen with her children and extended family. In a moment’s notice she could prepare a feast from simple leftovers for anyone who dropped by.
The family will be forever grateful and appreciative for the excellent care she received from Dr. Stokreef, Dr. MacFadyen, Dr. Mora, Dr. Sangster and staff at OSMH.
Visitation will be held at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St N, Orillia on Friday April 10, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM with Parish Prayers at 6:45 PM. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be recorded and available at a later date on the Mundell Funeral Home, YouTube Channel.
Burial entombment will be immediately following the service at St. Michael’s Cemetery in Orillia. Reception will be at Coldwater Curling Club, 9 Michael Anne Drive, Coldwater, from 12:30pm to 4:00pm
