Robert Evan Parry- 1954-2022
It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of our brother on
June 21st, at his home in Oakville. He was only 67.
Bob was the third son born to Catherine and Alfred Parry, loving brother of
Neill(and Violet), Ricky(deceased), John(and Alma), and Anne. Uncle to
Stephanie and Christopher(and Sam).
Bob was a devout Christian who lived for the spiritual community that The
Meeting House represented and the friendships and the sense of
belonging that the church provided.
These relationships combined with his deep sense of faith gave Bob great
comfort and stability in a life that held many challenges.
Bob always seemed to be facing more of life’s struggles than most,
suffering from both depression and ADHD.
Even with these issues, Bob studied Christian Theology at Bible College in
Texas and later earned an Honours Degree in Political Science from York
University. He pursued his academic learnings and teachings for his entire
life.
Extremely well read, a proud Liberal and an accomplished political junkie,
there was very little about our political system that he could not speak to.
For Bob, an election was the equivalent of the Super Bowl.
Bob was an optimist at heart. After all, he was a loyal Maple Leaf fan his
entire life and believed they could win.
He grew up idolizing the Beatles and still listened to their music every day.
He lived for long phone chats, getting together for coffee, debating politics
with friends and his Monday night church huddle.
Bob had a great sense of humour and always enjoyed sharing stories and
memories of family and dogs and childhood friends.
But it was his faith that kept him centred in this world and the church is
where he found his True North.
The Serenity Prayer was special to him.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage
to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.
In honour of Bob’s deep faith and dedication to the church and the
unwavering support of the local mission, we ask that donations be made
to The Meeting House in Oakville or The Kerr Street Mission.
