Pape, Robert Michael (Mike) passed away after a long and courageous battle with Posterior Cortical Atrophy, at the Leacock Care Centre on Sunday, March 1st in his 70th year. Mike, formerly from Toronto, adored husband of Anna (nee Picano). Doting father of Matthew and wife Brooke, of Bracebridge, grandfather of Henry and Audrey, and brother of Steve and partner Cinzia of Richmond Hill.
Mike had many interests from woodworking, cycling, building model boats and airplanes, kayaking and skiing. His passion was sailing his 29’ sailboat, Sunblaze, which Anna jokingly referred to as “the other woman”. Summers were spent sailing around Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay. Mike loved spending time in the kitchen preparing meals, sharing a bottle of wine and good laughs. There was nothing he couldn’t fix and puttering around the house was one of his favourite past times. Mike lived life his way and held fast to his beliefs. Somewhat of a loner, Mike would drop everything to help a friend in need. He taught woodworking and technical design at Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia from 1997-2013 and previously at Brock High School. A dedicated teacher, Mike felt if he could connect with just one student his job was done. Mike, you did your job many times over.
Never forgotten, always loved and forever in our hearts.
