Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of Bob, Dad, Papa. Devoted husband and inseparable friend to Margaret Ann (nee Davidson). Loving father and father in-law to Alison Parry, Colleen (Elmer) Sheppard, Samantha (Simon) Debane and Joshua (Jeanette) Parry.
Thrilled to be Papa to Malek, Charlotte, Bronwen, Dylan, Domanic and Letitia. They will remember his great sense of humour, playing games and constant engagement in their lives. However near or far he had to travel, Papa was always cheering them on.
Loyal brother to David Parry and Margaret Parry. Caring brother in-law to Jim and Pam Davidson, Shirley (Greg predeceased) Roussy, Laura and Seb Chiaramida. Uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews with special bonds to Massimo Chiaramida and Cole Garraway.
Bob was a strength to many others throughout his life. He was a man of science and a man of unwavering faith. Generous with his time and his resources, he expressed much gratitude for the gifts he was given, always finding ways to share and help. He had a unique ability to turn almost any negative into a positive. He thought deeply about spiritual matters, connecting them to scientific facts then explaining to anyone who would listen. There were a few who did, mainly forever “besties” Ed and Cheryl Wilson.
He had a long-valued friendship with John Brown.
Bob enjoyed a 30 year career as an OPP officer. After retiring in 2007, he took up motorcycling. This was his hobby and passion, spending summers exploring roads in Haliburton and beyond. Winters were spent working on his Bachelor of Science degree, something that had eluded him.
He was a cancer “thriver” having beaten the disease over 20 years ago.
Warm thanks to Dr. McComb and all the doctors and nurses who gave Bob kind and sensitive care in the ER at Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital.
Bob was a volunteer and peer supporter with Badge of Life, an organization which provides hope, growth and recovery to first responders suffering post-traumatic stress. Donations in lieu of flowers gratefully accepted.
Visitation will be held at Mundell Funeral Home at 79 West St. North, Orillia Ontario on Friday February 27th from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. All are welcome.
