Patricia Marilyn Berner

April 17, 1933 — December 23, 2025

BERNER, Patricia “Pat” Marilyn (nee: Jackson)

Pat passed away peacefully at Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket on Tuesday December 23, 2025 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife and best friend of James Emmanuel Berner (1934-2008). Loving devoted mother of David and wife Jo-Hellen of Orillia, Daniel and wife Gina of Hammond. Treasured grandmother to Christopher (Radene), Kaitlin (Daniel), Meaghan (Vitor) and Shane, and dear great grandmother of nine. She was predeceased by her sister, Carol Chartrand.

Pat was born in Oshawa but moved to the K-W area with her family when she was a teenager and where she lived and raised her family for the next 50+ years. It was only in 2009, shortly after the passing of her husband Jim, when she moved to Ramara Township and where she spent her remaining years.

While a popular and much-loved neighbourhood fixture on her beloved Florence Avenue (Ramara), she will also be remembered for her unwavering energy in volunteer work … particularly in those organizations and undertakings that were committed to the betterment of youth. For decades Pat was a dedicated volunteer in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Some of the organizations included K-W YWCA, United Way, Girl Guides of Canada-Waterloo Division, and K-W Ringette. In 1995, in appreciation of her service and dedication to the K-W community, Pat received “Woman of Achievement Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Community”

Aside from her volunteer work, she was never happier than when immersed in humorous banter at family & neighborhood functions, tending to any one of the scores of dogs with whom she shared her life over the years, or simply sitting in a boat trolling for whatever fish that happened to be in the vicinity. (Catching fish was never her focus - it was all about the boat ride)

Pat’s kindness, warmth and wit will always be a lasting memory for all who knew her.
