Nils Peterson

PETERSON, Nils - December 1946 – March 2, 2024
The Peterson family announce the death of Nils on March 2, 2024 at Mariposa House Hospice in Severn ON. Much loved husband of Elaine and father to Brent (Jessica) and Tom (Colleen). Stepfather to Mac (Laura) Gordon and Tara (John) Swanson. Nils will be missed by his grandchildren Cole Peterson, Isabelle and Lexy Swanson and Lily Gordon and by his dear friend Fred Hastings. His large extended family remember him for his quirky and quick witted sense of humor, for his compassion and guidance and eclectic musical tastes.

As a lawyer with 45 years of practice, Nils acted as a devoted advocate, helping others to navigate the complexities of the legal system. He touched the lives of many. An accomplished Sailor, Nils had a passion for sailing and a love of travel, embarking on countless adventures throughout this life. 

A great advocate, a true friend, a music lover, a sailor and world traveller, we will miss him. 

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Nemat Daraei, Susan Clark, NP and the staff at Mariposa House Hospice for their kind and compassionate care. We also acknowledge and are grateful for the health care professionals at RVH (oncology), OSMH and North Simcoe Community Care Support Services and the Bayshore Team. 

At Nils' request, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
