Moira Jane Paterson

Mom passed away peacefully at Oak Terrace on August 14, 2025. Moira was born at home on Sunday March 10, 1935 in Glasgow, Scotland.

She was the loving and devoted Mother of Grizelda and Craig (Patti-who Mom considered as her second Daughter). Loving and proud “Gran” of Chloe and Seth. Mom was predeceased by our Dad Alex and our younger Brother Scott. Fondly remember as “Auntie Moira” by her Nieces and nephews.

Mom’s main focus was her children but she also had a passion for music, especially singing. She had a beautiful soprano voice and could still hit the high notes at 90. Mom sang in choirs in Scotland and in the choir at St. David’s Anglican Church in Orillia.

Mom’s home for the last three years was Oak Terrace. There she became a part of a loving and caring community. Her family are truly grateful to all the staff that had cared for her during her stay. Mom enjoyed many activities at Oak Terrace but her favourites were musical entertainment and hymn songs. She loved to sing hymns with her room-mate in the evening and would serenade her co-residents and staff.

Special thanks to Matt, Aaliyah, Susan, Mary Ann, Lola, Tammy, Brandon and Marti who cared for Mom lovingly on her final journey.

A sincere thank you to Gord Launchbury for his kindness and spiritual support of Mom.

Family and friends are invited for a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, September 6 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia. Cremation has taken place.
