Lynda Lee Cotton

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Lynda Lee Cotton (née Disney) on June 15, 2025, at Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia, Ontario, at the age of 70.

Lynda was the beloved wife of Jim (James) Ernest Cotton, with whom she shared 50 wonderful years of marriage, a milestone they celebrated on June 14. Together, they built a beautiful life in Oro-Medonte, where their home was always warm, welcoming, and filled with love.

She was the devoted mother of Brad Cotton and loving mother-in-law to Amanda Cotton (née Munro). She was a proud grandmother to Brook Cotton and the late Gavin Cotton (2005–2023), whose memory she held close to her heart every day.

Lynda was a cherished sister to Dawn Clutterbuck and Brenda Smith, and a treasured lifelong friend to Ann Marie Lawlor and Marilyn Chrysler. Her circle of love extended far beyond family—she was deeply loved by her neighbours, her community, and everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.

Lynda had a zest for life and an adventurous spirit. She said yes to every opportunity for fun, laughter, or exploration. She had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and swimming—ideally on a sunny day, as she was always chasing the warmth. Nature brought her joy, and she in turn brought joy to everyone around her.

Lynda’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and vibrant spirit. Her strength, warmth, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, June 21st from 1 p.m. until time of service at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia. Followed by a procession and burial. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lynda’s memory may be made to Mariposa House Hospice, whose care and compassion brought great comfort in her final days or the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA)
