Josef Staufer

February 3, 1932 — July 7, 2021

Staufer; Josef  B.A. - Feb 3, 1932 - July 7, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Josef, on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.  Joe spent his last days with his family by his side.
Joe will be lovingly remembered as an adoring husband by his wife of 63 years, Sylvia “Sally” Staufer, as a wonderful daddy to his daughter, Glenna Staufer (Mark Barnartt passed 2019), and to his sons, Peter Staufer (Shelley Staufer) and Eric Staufer (passed 1985) and as an amazing grandfather to Jordan Eric Staufer Barnartt and Michael Hon. Joe will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law and cribbage partner, Carol Bylow.
Joe started his life as a flour miller in his birth country of Austria before immigrating to Canada in the 1950s and settling in Orillia. We will miss all his wonderful stories about working as a linesman for the CNR before graduating from Waterloo Lutheran University to pursue his accomplished teaching career at Georgian College, retiring in 1991.
Joe will always be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews in Canada and Austria, and by his honorary son Gary Tomlinson and his family.
We would like to express our love and gratitude to the staff of Leacock Retirement Lodge and Bayshore Nursing for the care they showed Joe.
Cremation has already taken place. If desired, memorial donations to the Orillia SPCA would be appreciated. A celebration of Joe’s life will take place at a later date. The time we had with our husband and father was a gift.  Messages of condolence are welcomed at www.mundellfuneralhome.com
