John Vink, born Jan Vink DeKwaadsteniet in Haarlem, Netherlands, on April 9, 1941, passed on May 3, 2025.
John was raised in the Netherlands where he began his electrical career. He came to Canada at age 17 and joined his sister Stella in Brandon, Manitoba. After a year he moved to Toronto, Ontario.
While visiting his sister now in St. Thomas, Ontario, he met his first wife Jeannette with whom he had two kids Cynthia and John. He started Applewood Fish and Chips in Mississauga, Ontario, and then worked as an electrician. He moved to London, Ontario to start his own electrical business.
In 1980, he moved to Trail, British Columbia and built their home. Circumstances forced him to move back to Ontario for work in 1985 where he started his next electrical business. He witnessed the marriage of his daughter and the graduation of his son before meeting his now wife Lolly.
John and Lolly moved to Orillia, Ontario in 1997 and opened the Red Caboose Mini Golf. John continued doing electrical work under the name of Jan The Electric Man. He worked until the ripe age of 79 when he retired to Birchmere Retirement Home.
John is survived by his wife Lolly, children Cynthia (Doug) and John, stepchildren Angie (Tom), Kenny (Vickey), Steve (Katy) and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7 at 3:00 pm at Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, Ontario. For those unable to attend John's Celebration you may watch via Livestream by clicking on the following link to register your device
