Cody, Alice "Joan" Clara (nee Western) (formerly Irwin) Known for her dramatic entrances, Joan made a quiet and dignified departure on April 30, 2014 at the Champlain Manor in Orillia, surrounded by her loving family. Alice Joan Clara was born on Dec.10,1925 in Wainwright, Alberta to parents Olive and Hubert Western predeceased. She was predeceased by her sister Barbara (Sam) Paine, and brother, Hubert Western. Survived by her sister-in-law Margaret Western. Joan follows her second husband and soul mate Jay Cody (2011) and first husband and friend, Luke Irwin (2009). Wonderful and exuberant mother of Pamela Brown (Gordon), John Jared Irwin (Katie Fullerton), Deborah Irwin (Brian Harris), James Irwin (Trish Saywell) and Peter Irwin (Jennifer). Stepmother of Michael, Susan, Martha, Amy, and Anne Cody. Glamorous grandmother of Andrew, Peter (Claire), Nicholas (Trisha), Sarah (Eric), Alice, Olivia, Bridget, Henry, Mackenzie and Thomas. Great-grandmother of Isaac, Abigale, Oscar and Simone. Joan was named Orillia's Citizen of the Year in 1980. She was past director of Brewery Bay Tennis and Sailing Club, and most recently, a member of the Raging Grannies. Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St.,N., Orillia on Thursday, May 8th from 2 - 4 & 7- 9 pm.. Memorial service will be held at St. James' Anglican Church, 58 Peter St.,N., Orillia on Friday, May 9th at 11 am..
