Janet Anne Banks

It is with great sadness that the family of Janet Anne Banks announce her peaceful passing on Thursday October 9, 2025 at the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. Janet was predeceased by her husband Bob Banks, and will be dearly missed by her children Stephen Banks (Sandra), Tim Banks (Cathy) and Lisa Hildred (Mark). She was the loving grandmother to Chris Banks, Zachary Strachan Banks (Ivy), Natalie Phillips (Nelson), Garret Strachan Banks (Jessica), Nicole Hildred (Andrew) and Jeremey Hildred (Kaitlin), along with great-grandchildren Ennah and Zephyr.

Janet worked for many years as a school secretary at Uptergrove Public School and Orchard Park school where she made life-long friends. She was an avid golfer, curler and was always up for a great game of scrabble. She always cheered on the Blue Jays and Leafs. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends, particularly her friends at the Atrium Retirement Home where she lived for the past two years. She could be found winning candies at bingo or relaxing outside in the sun.

Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Wednesday, October 15th from 3-5 and 7-9. Funeral mass will be held at Guardian Angels Church, 115 West St. N., Orillia on Thursday, October 16 at 1:30. A reception will be held at the parish hall after the service.

Memorial donations may be made in Janet’s name to Orillia Soldier’s Memorial Hospital or a charity of your choice.
