James "Jim" Somerville Wood

Wood; James "Jim" Somerville (Former proprietor of Thomas Wood Shoes, Barbershop Harmony Society - Barrie Chapter, Historic Automobile Society of Canada (HASC) Huronia Region and Lifetime NDP Supporter) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at Mariposa House Hospice, Severn on Saturday, October 8, 2022 in his 106th year.

Jim, beloved husband of Marie (nee Fisher) and the late Bunny (nee Hewston). Loving father of Jim (Priscilla) of Hopewell Cape, NB and Murray of Vernon, BC. Cherished grandfather of Celena (Scott), Carlee (Andy) and Rebecca (Jordan). Proud Grand-grampie of Eliana, Arwen, Marlo and Juni. Loved step father of Lise (Travis) their son Alexander and Ruth (Matt). Dear brother of the late Peter, Hugh and Helen.

The Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held this Saturday, October 15th, 2022 at 1:30pm at Emmanuel, 300 Coldwater Rd. W., Orillia Ontario, followed by a reception from 2:30pm - 4:30pm in the church hall.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Mariposa House Hospice, Emmanuel, Barbershopper’s “We sing that they may hear”, The NDP Party of Canada, or NCRI Women’s Committee supporting equality for women in Iran would be appreciated by the family.

Donations are being collected for distribution through the Mundell Funeral Home.
