On November 4, 2025, in his 89th year, Ivan passed away peacefully in his sleep. Beloved husband of Eileen Joyce (nee Burton). Loving father of Shane Strachan of Midland, Marty (Stacey) Strachan of Hazelton, BC, Connie (Karl) Marszowski of Ottawa, and Kevin (Christine) of Coldwater. Loved grandfather of Baz, Maggie, Caleb, Jorja, and Matthew. Dear brother of Melville (Mel) (Myrle) Strachan and Hilda (Murray) Briggs all predeceased. Brother-in-law of Bruce (May) Burton (both predeceased), Donald (predeceased)(Nancy) Burton and Robert Burton. Ivan is survived by his nieces, nephews and their families who were with him to the end. His wife and children laid him to rest on a beautiful sunny day at Knox Cemetery, Oro-Medonte. Ivan would enjoy a graveside chinwag with you at your convenience.

Ivan grew up on a farm which gave him the drive and skills to take care of his own. His children remember repairing the same fences and concrete floors year after year. A large garden fed a large family, and anything could be repaired with enough effort. This ability to fix, reuse or get by without using his wallet literally defined him and this priceless skillset was passed on to generations of family. A highly social man, Ivan had endless time to chew the fat with good friends or total strangers. He loved his grandchildren who remember him as the persistent prankster.
