Inge Jacobsen

Passed peacefully at Spencer House, Orillia, on Friday, October 10, 2025, in her 97th year. Inge, beloved wife of the late Werner F. Jacobsen (2007). Loving mother of Werner (Johanna) Jacobsen, Angela (Patrick McGarvey predeceased) Jacobsen, Norman Jacobsen (predeceased), Carol (Brian) Normandeau and Civi (Brian Broda) Jacobsen. Cherished grandmother of Stephen (Shannon), Nicolas (Holly), David, Lauren, Brittany (John) Pyke and great grandchildren Sidney, Olivia, Seth, Anabel, Sophie, Scarlett, and Sean. Dear sister of Leo, Helen, Erika, Lucia, and Heinrich all predeceased.

Our mother was born in Poland and fled to Germany in 1945. Her guardian angel was with her during this time in the form of different people. One was Russian General Georgy Zhukov. He assigned two soldiers to accompany her and her friend Rose whenever they were sent to Berlin. While she saw horrific things, she was never harmed.

She emigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in May 1953 with her husband Werner and son, Werner (Jr.) where she had two children, Angela and Norman. In 1958, she moved to Orillia where she had two more children, Carol, and Civi. In 1959, she worked as a nurse’s aide (PSW) at a local Nursing Home. She transitioned to private duty nursing, caring for some of Orillia’s most prominent citizens, until 1989. Both her patients and their families loved and respected her. She was a loving mother to her children, their friends, and to her grandchildren. Her home was filled with laughter, food, and open arms.

The family is extremely grateful for the wonderful care she received at Spencer House. The staff and residents loved Inge, though her time at Spencer House was short (November 2024 to October 2025). Our heartfelt thanks to all the staff. We hope we have not omitted anyone. From Dr. Collins, the directors, the co-ordinators, the front desk, the nurses, PSW’s, housekeepers, support staff, residents, and their families – everyone made Inge’s time at Spencer House one of friendship and living, not merely lingering. For this, the entire family is grateful beyond words.

Family and friends are invited for visitation at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia, on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025, from 4 - 7 pm.
