With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gordon James Walter Burns on January 28, 2026, at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Orillia, in his 82nd year.

Beloved husband to Elda (nee Wernham) for 57 wonderful years. Loving and devoted father to Kiersten Atkinson and Shaun Burns. Proud grandfather to Treyjen Atkinson (Amber Bergie); Mackenzie Burke (Tyler Burke); and Joshua Atkinson; and great-grandfather to Theodore, Georgia, and Madilynn. Born in Barrie, Ontario to the late Garvin and Leona (nee Mooney) Burns. Brother to George (predeceased) and Kathleen. Gordon will be dearly missed by his family & friends.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia, from 12:00pm until the time of service in the Chapel at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place. Gordon will rest at the St. Andrew’s – St. James’ Cemetery, 320 Coldwater Road West, Orillia, come Spring 2026.
