George Riekstins

George Riekstins passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at Trillium Manor in Orillia, Ontario.

George was a retired officer of the Metropolitan Toronto Police Department, where he served with pride and dedication for more than thirty years. Born in Latvia on November 8, 1941, he made his home in Canada and spent his life in service to his community and family.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ann Riekstins (née Tomlinson), and by his children, Jake Riekstins (Karyn) of Flower Mound, Texas, and Andrea Shred (Mark) of Toronto, Ontario. George was a proud grandfather to Briar, Maeve, and Harrison Riekstins, and to William and Declan Shred. He is also survived by his brother, Ozz Riekstins, and Ozz’s partner, Eve Booth of Belleville, Ontario.

A private family gathering will be held in his memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
