Edward Charles Burgan

(WWII Veteran)

Passed away peacefully, with family by his side, at Spencer House, Orillia on Thursday, April 13th, 2023, at the age of 96.  Husband of Phyllis.  Loved father of Kara Stone (Paul), Leah Burgan (Keith Mercer), Holly Weatherby (predeceased), Kelly Dory (Rick) and Joe Burgan.  Papa of Devon, Garth, Lydia, Sean, Ian, Travis, Wesley, Elisa, Graham and "Papa GG" of Grayson, Nash, Ciara, Mira, and Neve.

Predeceased by his brothers Robert and William Burgan.

Ed was a veteran paratrooper in WWII.  A graduate of the Colorado School of Mines which was instrumental in his successful career as a geological engineer.  His career brought him to Canada where he worked in Thunder Bay ON, Bathurst NB, Calgary AB and finishing off in Toronto with Hudson Bay Oil & Gas, where he retired.  Ed was an avid hunter and fisherman.  He loved training the many dogs he owned over the years for hunting and retriever trials..  He competed in the Canadian Retreiver Trials and was a Canadian champion many times. He was a skilled and respected duplicate bridge player, achieving his life masters. He spent his last years quietly making friends at the Atrium Retirement Residence in Orillia, On.

As per Ed's wishes, cremation has taken place which will be followed by a journey to his home state of Nebraska.
