Bruce went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 1, 2026, with his wife by his side.
He is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife, Brenda; his sons, Sean (Teresa) of Parksville, BC, and Ben of Orillia; and his cherished grandsons, Erik and Isak, who were a constant source of pride and joy. Though separated by miles, Bruce treasured every call, visit, and opportunity to connect, never missing a chance to express how proud he was of the remarkable young men they were becoming.
He is also survived by his sisters: Brenda Scott (George predeceased), Bev Horne, Gina Burton, Heather Flemming (Brian), and Lynda Mann (Dave), as well as Sheila Wood, mother of Sean and Ben, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kathleen Wood, and his brothers, Victor, Doug, and Jerry.
Bruce was deeply rooted in his community and lived a life defined by service. He was proud to be among the first twelve paramedics in Orillia, serving with compassion and steady resolve. He later built a 25-year career as a Life Insurance Representative, faithfully guiding families with integrity and care. He also dedicated 25 years to the Orillia Auxiliary Police, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant — a testament to his leadership and unwavering sense of duty.
Bruce had a lifelong love of motorcycles, owning 42 over the years and cherished the memories of the times spent at the hunt camp fishing and hunting.
Above all, Bruce will be remembered for his humor and warmth. He believed every moment held an opportunity to make someone smile — and he did so often and effortlessly. His laughter and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mariposa House Hospice in Orillia. The care Bruce received went far beyond our expectations. Their kindness, dignity, and unwavering support brought comfort to Bruce and to all of us. We will always be grateful for the tenderness and respect with which they walked alongside our family.
Arrangements entrusted with Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia. Family and friends will be received at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 265 Coldwater Road West, Orillia, on Saturday, March 7 from 10:00am until the Funeral Service at 11:00am. A time of fellowship will immediately follow in the church hall. Bruce will rest at St. Andrew’s-St. James’ Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Mariposa House Hospice would be greatly appreciated, and may be made through the Mundell Funeral Home at 705-325-2231.
