Devoted teacher, dog breeder, and lifelong friend

Andrea Walli of Oro-Medonte passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 17, 2025 at the age of 71. Daughter of Melville and Madeleine (Callaghan) Hosick, sibling to Raymond (Sylvie), James (Susan), Joan (Jim), and Jeff. Alpha to many fur babies.

Andrea lived life with conviction, warmth, and passion. A dedicated French Immersion teacher, she instilled a love of language in her students and led school choirs with energy and heart. Her storytelling and music brought joy to countless children over the years.

An avid animal lover, Andrea owned and operated a successful kennel and raised a whole whack of miniature schnauzers, many of whom became champions. Her dogs were a source of immense pride and joy for all who chose one as a companion.

Andrea loved her family deeply. She was generous with her time and resources, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her hospitality was second to none—her home was a gathering place for family events, celebrations, and heartfelt conversations.

She cherished her friendships and kept them close throughout her life—from high school and university to teaching and flyball tournaments. She remained devoted, loyal, and compassionate, often being the one others turned to in times of need.

Andrea was also known for her strong opinions, shared passionately but never used to divide. She accepted others for who they were, even if they disagreed.

She is lovingly remembered by her family, friends, former students, and the many lives she touched with her kindness, humour, and steady presence.

Family and friends will be received on Friday, June 27 at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West Street North, Orillia from 11:00am until the time of service at 1:00pm in the Chapel.
