Werner Fritz Otto Krausewitz passed peacefully on July 28th in his 94th year. Beloved husband of the late Linda Krausewitz whom he was married to for 60 years. Cherished father of his three sons, Stuart (Karen), Wayne (Katrina), and Mark (Jennifer). Adored grandfather of Kurt, Lori-Anne, Alicia, Karson, Juliette and Tristan. Vern was born on July 22, 1932 in Oschersleben, Germany. He crossed borders and politics to be with his beloved bride Linda in Western Germany before embarking with her on a ship that would take them across the Atlantic to their new home, Canada. He proudly became a Canadian citizen and cherished his new nationality. Settling in Toronto, Werner put his skills as a trained Pastry Chef to good use and opened a popular bakery, called "Linda's Bakery", growing a large clientele. Later he would take his young family north to Oro, Ontario where he owned and operated the restaurant The Driftwood for many years. He passed on his strong work ethic to each of his three sons. Known as both Poppa and Opa to his grandchildren, he was well loved by them for his patience, love and silliness. Opa loved the simple things in life, such as tranquility of music and could often be found in his retirement listening to big band sounds on a sofa, entirely satisfied with the peace and quiet of house and home. He was a tremendous carpenter, renovating three of his homes and building his own swimming pool and gazebo for the family to enjoy. He was something of a musician, often pulling out the accordion to amuse his family and friends. He will be missed for his loyal, loving and easygoing nature. Vern's life will be celebrated in a private family ceremony.
