Obituary

Parker, Valerie “Lynne”

Dec. 22, 1945 - Jan.16, 2026

It is with the utmost sadness that the family of Lynne Parker announces the sudden passing of our Mother and dearest Nana on January 16th 2026 in Orillia, Ontario.

Lynne was the most kind-hearted person you could meet; always generous with her time and abilities for those who needed help. So much so that even recently, in her 80th year, she continued to volunteer locally at “The Sharing Place Food Centre” on a weekly basis.

A former Canadian Forces member, as well as military spouse; Lynne lived in many places across her life. Born in Calgary and spending many of her formative years in Delta and Ocean Falls, BC, she also lived at multiple Canadian Forces Base locations; including CFB Toronto, CFB Cold Lake, abroad at CFB Baden (Germany), and many years at CFB Greenwood, and the surrounding area of Kingston, NS, prior to living in Orillia for these past few years.

Lynne is survived by her children, son; Robert (Silvia) Parker of Bradford, ON; daughter, Krystal (Justin) Lowe, Orillia, ON; her favorite people in the world, her grandchildren: Nicholas Parker, Barrie, ON; Mikaela Parker, Bradford, ON; Claire Lowe, Parker Lowe, and Elijah “Eli” Lowe, all of Orillia, ON.

She is also survived by her sister: Sue Rapin, BC; brother: Bill (Mary) Dempsey, BC; and her four-legged companion, a Shetland Sheepdog named Lizzie.

She is predeceased by her parents: Charles and Doreen Dempsey; brother, Brian (Ilean) Dempsey; as well as her loving husband of 49 years (until his death in 2018): Dale Parker.

Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed. Her unending love for her family, her zest for an enthusiastic debate, and her pride to see her family succeed will be fondly remembered by those whom she cared about most.

In lieu of a service, her family will hold a private celebration of life, to take place at a later date.

Donations in her memory may be made to The Sharing Place Food Centre in Orillia, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or other charity closest to your heart.
