Lucile Ysolida Ellins
We are sad to report the death of Lucile Ysoldia Ellins (née Reuben; b.1918; d. 2026) at the age of 107 years. Beloved mother of Jerry, Charlie, Mary Lou, and Susan. Beloved grandmother of Miranda, Joshua, Jana, Mike, Catherine, Adam, David and Matthew. Beloved great-grandmother of James, Stephen, Thomas, Lennie, Conor, Wallis, and Petrea. A remarkable woman, who in her youth studied piano at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto, achieving the certificate of ARTC, at that time the highest level of academic award for music available in Canada. She and her sister later went to New York to do further studies as a duo piano team and went on to win every duo piano competition in North America at that time. In addition, they had many other professional engagements, and at one point had their own radio show on CBC radio in 1947. It was a tremendous achievement. On marriage, and retiring from a performing career, she went on to become a music teacher for many years at Branksome Hall in Toronto. Lucile enjoyed boating all of her life during summers in Ontario. She was Fleet Captain of the Lake Simcoe Yacht Club for over 18 years, Associate Member of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron since 1968 (Orillia Squadron) and the St. Petersburg Squadron of the United States Sail and Power Squadrons from 1981. Boating aboard her vessel "Lady Lou" brought so much joy to her days. She was truly a lovely and inspiring woman and will be greatly missed. Cremation to take place. A time of visitation will take place at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St., N., Orillia, on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 3 - 6 pm. With Parish Prayers to be said in the Parlours Monday eveing at 5:45 pm. Then to St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Church, 3315 Muskoka St., Washago for Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 21st, at 10:30 am. If desired, memorial donations to the Charity of Ones Choice would be appreciated.
