IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Kenneth Garfield Gordon
MacKinnon
June 29, 1945 – January 28, 2026
Ken (Kenneth) MacKinnon passed away peacefully after a lengthy health battle, surrounded by love and care.
Ken dedicated 37 years of service to the City of Orillia’s Parks and Recreation Department, where he completed his career as Superintendent. His commitment to the community extended well beyond his professional life. He proudly served as a volunteer firefighter for 16 years and spent 19 years as a Scout leader, generously giving his time to support and mentor others.
He shared 54 loving years of marriage with his wife, Kathy. He was a father to his two children, Keith (Jaime) and Karen (Richard), and a proud grandfather to Reid, Claire, Elliott, and Elena. He will also be deeply missed by his sister, Violet Smith, her boys, and his cherished lifelong friends, Bob and Sue Wright.
Ken had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in boating, camping, and spending time in nature, especially when shared with family and friends.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, and to the compassionate and amazing team at Mariposa House Hospice, with special thanks to Peter and Karen, for their exceptional care and kindness.
A celebration of life will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken’s memory may be made to Mariposa House Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to the Mundell Funeral Home, Orillia.
