MANLEY, JOHN DAVID. Passed away suddenly on April 18, 2026, aged 66. Dear husband to Brenda Manley (Heighington) for over 25 years, and together for more than 30 years.
John became a great dad to Amy (Russ) and Andrew (Crystal), and delighted in the energy and interests of his grandchildren, Annabelle, Felix, Finnley and Archer.
John also leaves to mourn his mother Sandra, his brothers Frank (Julie), David (Laurie), Paul (Teresa, dec.), and many beloved aunts, brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins and lifelong friends. John was predeceased by his father, Peter.
What many will remember best are the acts of kindness and stories. John was a gifted raconteur who enthralled listeners with his retelling of local dramas and funny encounters. And from the earliest age, he was curious to know how everything worked.
All manner of vehicles excited him - bikes, vintage cars, fast boats - and he took his automotive-machinist skills to the highest level - successfully running Performance Engine with Brenda for decades, generously passing on his expertise to his employees and customers.
Diagnosed with colon cancer at age 35, John persevered in the face of huge odds and seven operations, inspiring all around him with his capacity to fight through setbacks and get back to living his life with Brenda and family to the fullest.
Whether enjoying the north country, fishing, attending concerts, partying or chilling at family gatherings, he made the world a better place and will be missed by so many.
Visitation: Saturday, May 2, 1:00-4:00 pm. Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. North, Orillia, ON L3V 5C1.
If desired, memorial donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
