Obituary

Geraldine (Gerry) Gardiner

Passed away peacefully at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the age of 87. The level of care, empathy and kindness Gerry received from the OSMH nurses, doctors and her closest friends in her final months was exceptionally wonderful and so appreciated by the family.

Gerry will be remembered for her kind heart, strong spirit, and wonderful sense of humour. She had a gift for making people laugh, lighting even the most difficult moments with her wit, beautiful smile, and infectious personality. She made everyone feel welcome, and her home and heart were always open, often with a table full of food and wine.

Friends, family, and her dog Hannah, were the center of Gerry’s world, and she valued the moments spent with them. She leaves behind a life filled with perseverance, generosity, laughter, and kindness that will continue to live on through the memories of the many lives she touched. She was admired and respected, and loved not only by her friends and family, but by her neighbours and former co-workers who were fortunate enough to know her. Her ability to make people feel safe and appreciated left a lasting impression on many.

Gerry was preceded in death by her parents Shirley and Gordon Keown, and husbands Ron Gardiner and Marvin Clarke. Her memory will be cherished by her daughter Marlene Stubbington (Paul), her son Mike Clarke (Barb); by her grandchildren Lisa Stubbington (Liam), Robbie Stubbington (Shelby), Jordan Clarke (Brooke), and Jackie Clarke; and her great-grandkids Lily and Hunter Layzelle, and Jessa and Oakleigh Stubbington.

In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family celebration is planned for a later date. If desired, donations to the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society would be appreciated. Arrangements are entrusted to Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia (705) 325-2231.
