Obituary

Brown; Eleanor Anne (nee McKeen)

It is with sadness that we share the passing of Eleanor Anne Brown on February 28th, 2026 in Orillia, Ontario. She was born March 14, 1951 in Windsor, Ontario to Wilbert and Joan Mckeen.

A lifelong learner and educator, Eleanor was dedicated to the beauty of communication. After earning her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, she shared her love of French and Spanish with high school students. Her intellectual curiosity didn't stop there; while raising her children, she completed a Master of Arts in Spanish Literature, eventually inspiring students as a university lecturer.

Beyond the classroom, Eleanor’s life was filled with a varied soundtrack. An accomplished musician herself, she excelled at the piano. When she wasn’t playing, her home was always filled with music that spanned generations and genres-from the music of The Beatles and the soulful rhythms of Motown, to the smooth voice of Johnny Mathis and, as one of the many expressions of her faith in God, gospel music.

Eleanor is survived by her siblings Ken (Maureen), John (Sheri), Bob (Brenda), Marilyn, and Will (Michelle); her children Andrew (Melodie), Sarah (Joel), Mary (Rober), James (Katie), and Paul (Laura); and her 17 grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia on Thursday evening, from 7 - 9 PM. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 1 PM. Interment to follow at St. Andrew's - St. James' Cemetery, Orillia.
