Doug’s soul has taken flight, soaring free among the open skies.

Doug loved to chat, share a story and a laugh, he believed a stranger is just a friend you haven’t met yet.

Passed away peacefully at Soldiers' Memorial Hospital, Orillia on Saturday September 26, 2026 in his 80th year. Doug, beloved husband of Sharon (nee Downs) for 59 years. Loving father of Michele Blunt (Lyle) and Jeff Blunt (Jenn). Cherished grandfather of Braden, Owen (Erin), Ryleigh (Adam) and Jordan. Dear brother of Don Blunt (predeceased) (Carol), Marlene Scholte (predeceased), Bernice Beard (predeceased) (Floyd), Barbara Blunt, Judy McLaughlin (Jim predeceased) and Stephen Blunt (Lynn). Doug is survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn (Larry). He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Harold (Heather).

Fondly remembered by many nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews and great great nieces & nephews.The family wishes to thank all of the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Staff for their excellent care and compassion. Following cremation a private family graveside service will be held at Marchmont Baptist Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Soldiers' Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
