Obituary

SEYMOUR, Carolyn Elizabeth Michelle

Born October 31st, 1984 in Orillia, Ontario

Passed away May 11th, 2026 in Calgary, Alberta

Carolyn attended Orillia schools, graduating from Patrick Fogarty Catholic Secondary School. She learned a lot about food and catering while working at the Mariposa Market. She went on to study Events Management at Durham College in Oshawa. She moved to Calgary, Alberta in 2010 where she developed her passion for sales, catering and events, whether a wedding or an Annual General Meeting. She became Director of Sales and Catering in several Calgary area hotels, as well as in St. Petersburg and the Florida Keys. She returned to Calgary in 2025. She succeeded in a competitive hospitality industry and found she was always the youngest member on the management team by at least a decade.

She loved to travel and made new friends wherever she went. She loved people and wanted everyone to be the best they could be. She was the boss everyone wants to have, constantly mentoring and encouraging. On a personal level, she suffered a great loss with the death in 2017 of her good friend Eldon Edey. She faced serious health issues over the last couple years and was hospitalized several times.

Carolyn is survived by her mother Dorothy Cook and father Mort Seymour of Orillia ON. She is also survived by five brothers - Mark and David of Toronto ON, Mel of Erin ON, Nick and Mike of Orillia ON. Additionally, she is survived by foster-sisters Taneisha Hemmelgarn of Toronto ON and Rosemarie (Patrick) King of Barrie ON, as well as foster brothers Patrick Schaal of Angus ON and Barrett Hemmelgarn of Ajax ON.

She was predeceased by her brother Peter and her foster sister Crystal Gregory. In addition, she is survived by her uncle Tony Cook of Orillia ON and her aunts Carole Idema of Phoenix AZ and Christine Marwick Seymour of Washington D.C., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 115 West St., N., Orillia, on Saturday, June 27th, 2026 at 12 noon. Reception in the Parish Hall following. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Pomeranian and Small Breed Rescue (), a charity dedicated to small dog rescue.
