(Anne) Lynne Murphy passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Mariposa House Hospice, following a short illness that she faced with the same strength and grace she carried throughout her life. She was surrounded by family
Born in Haileybury, Ontario, on December 16, 1939, Lynne was the cherished daughter of Ted and Mary Kate McCarney. She was the younger sister of Finley and dear friend to her sister-in-law, Penny (both predeceased).
Lynne was the loving wife of Bill Murphy (predeceased) and treasured mother of Dennis (Lisa), Mary Kate (Rohan), Joe (Aroma), and Ted (predeceased). She was the proud and devoted Grandma to Dan and Anna Murphy; Eamon, Taara (predeceased), Shaelyn, and Kirin Pannu-Murphy; and Alex, Greg (Jenny), and JJ Vanigasooriyar. She will also be fondly remembered as a special aunt and guide to many nieces and nephews, and as a loyal and trusted friend to many.
Lynne would tell you her greatest accomplishment in life was her family. Her family would tell you their greatest gift in life was the example she set for others. She was exceptional and will be remembered as a woman with a quiet generosity and unwavering commitment - loyal to the core. Her dedication was never driven by recognition, but by a genuine belief in the importance of connection and compassion. She had a beautiful smile and an intelligent, understated sense of humour that she carried through even the most difficult of times. Her mental fortitude was her superpower. She had class beyond compare.
Lynne’s end-of-life journey was inspiring and selfless. She didn’t focus on her own mortality; instead, she used her remaining days to revisit old memories, create new ones with family and friends, and encourage those she loved toward a future grounded in hope and faith.
In the years ahead, her children (and “adopted” children) and grandchildren will take her pragmatism with them, and will pause in life’s moments of choice to ask themselves, “What would Lynnie do?”Top of FormBottom of Form
The family would like to thank the many community-based caregivers and Mariposa House Hospice for their dedication, care, and support.
Lynne will be dearly missed and celebrated with gratitude, always.
